The math, and where the numbers come from
Marek Brothers’ numbers are fictional and deliberately modest: a $310 average small-job ticket, six missed calls across the month, five quotes that went quiet, one forgotten invoice. If your shop is bigger, your leaks are bigger.
- Missed calls: when the text-back is on, only half the missed calls come back — the other half already called the next name on the list. Some money, once missed, stays gone. Real-world anchors: across 3,000+ trades businesses on ServiceTitan’s platform, only about 42% of inbound calls end up booked; and in CallRail’s 2025 survey of 1,000 consumers, just 42% said they leave a voicemail when a business doesn’t pick up — most move on.
- Quiet quotes: the leak counts each un-chased quote at a quarter of its value — not every quiet quote was going to close. Recoveries only count the jobs the chase actually brought back in the simulation.
- Reviews: counted as one modest extra job a month from a healthier Google profile, spread weekly. The slowest leak, and the most compounding.
- Invoices: counted only as the one invoice a month that never goes out — not the interest on the slow ones.
- Your-numbers calculator: missed calls × your average job × 50% recoverable, plus quiet quotes × a quarter × twice your average job (quoted work usually runs bigger — halve it if yours doesn’t), × 4.33 weeks a month.
